The U.S. just lost miserably to the Czechs, 3-0, in their first game of the World Cup. From the moment Jan Koller headed one in during the 5th minute, we were toast. Snaps to the Czechs, who appear to be a truly great team — but the U.S played so terribly that it was hard to tell. Our side lacked energy, insight, skill, and just about everything else needed to win a World Cup game.

Still feel you have it in you to root for the U.S.? Let's hope Ghana beats Italy at 3, and the Americans manage to win against the Italians. We can at least hope Italy goes down.
